About four minutes aboard the rover, crossing rolling lunar terrain and scattered rocks.

Key points

  • John Young drove; Charlie Duke filmed.
  • Moonpans’ HD remaster runs for about four minutes.

In 1972, John Young drove Apollo 16’s lunar rover while Charlie Duke captured the onboard view with a 16 mm camera. This video is edited from their return journey during the third moonwalk.

Moonpans’ remastered Apollo 16 rover footage, travelling from Station 11 to Station 13, then towards Station 10′ on the return journey.

Rocks, slopes and hollows pass beside the camera. Moonpans enhanced the original film, interpolated it to 60 frames per second and synchronized it with astronaut and ground-control communications. Ride along as they observe the terrain and feel the rhythm of driving across the Moon.
